HRT: only one lap on Friday in Melbourne for Liuzzi

The HRT team is now hoping for a normal Saturday after Tonio Liuzzi, at the wheel of the new F111, managed to complete only one installation lap in the second free practice session of the Australian F1 GP after also missing the first session waiting for the mechanics completed the work on the new car.

His teammate, Narain Karthikeyan, was unable to take to the track as his car was not yet finished.

According to team boss Colin Kolles, both cars will be able to run normally ahead of qualifying.

“The team did a really hard job today, I'm very proud of them. Tomorrow should be a normal day with both cars on track."

“Even though we only did one lap today, it is very important for us to have put the F111 into action” declared Liuzzi. “It was a great effort from everyone, the mechanics, the engineers worked night and day to prepare the car in time. Now we still have a lot of work for tomorrow. I can't wait to do more laps and collect the first data on the car."
