HRT, Perez-Sala: “Pedro de la Rosa will drive for us in 2013”
Instead, we are looking for Karthikeyan's replacement
Pedro de la Rosa will definitely be in HRT in 2013, team boss Luis Perez-Sala has announced. “Pedro de la Rosa will drive for us in 2013,” Perez-Sala told speed Week.
The veteran Spanish driver's current teammate is Narain Karthikeyan, but there is a possibility of a move to IndyCar for the Indian.
Speed Week said the presence of Karthikeyan, 35, had not led to an expected increase in Indian sponsors in HRT.
A possible candidate to replace him is the current Chinese reserve pilot Ma Qing Hua.
But last weekend on Sky TV, former McLaren driver Martin Brundle suggested the 24-year-old is "not ready" to make his big grand prix debut.
Other names then mentioned by Speed Week would be: Spaniard Dani Clos – another HRT driver from this year's 'Friday', and Jaime Alguersuari, former Toro Rosso driver and Pirelli tester who has “put together an enticing package of sponsor” for 2013.
And Brundle said Caterham reserve driver Giedo van der Garde could also be in the running, saying the Dutchman had done "a good job in GP2 and apparently has some sponsorship behind him".
