Horner: “I wouldn't have confirmed Massa”

"Ferrari had limited options anyway"

Horner: “I wouldn't have confirmed Massa”

Felipe Massa is lucky to have kept his seat at Ferrari. This is the opinion of Christian Horner, Red Bull boss. To those who asked him if he would have confirmed the Brazilian for 2013 instead of Stefano Domenicali, Horner admitted: “No, I don't think so. Unfortunately this is a difficult, results-based business,” he explained.

“Just look at the results that the other driver (Fernando Alonso, ed.) achieved with, I presume, the same material” he added.

“Obviously they evaluated other riders, at least one of ours (Webber, ed.), so they were concerned about Massa's form, but their options were limited” added Horner.

“Initially Perez seemed like an option for them, then Felipe improved his performances in the last third of the year. They made it clear they were deciding and ultimately realized it was the best option for them,” Horner added.
