Honda meets McLaren's requests: the first evolutionary step of the season is scheduled for the Canadian GP
A first development plan has been drawn up for the central part of the championship
Honda's race continues to allow Jenson Button and Fernando Alonso to return to competing for the top positions in the standings after a completely forgotten 2015.
Despite the excellent developments carried out during the winter with the collaboration of Mclaren, especially in terms of reliability, in Japan they are still not satisfied with the performance of their power unit on the track and for this reason they are working hard on an evolutionary step that it should allow Mclaren to get closer to Red Bull and Renault.
According to what was declared by the leaders of the Scuderia di Woking in the Barcelona paddock, Honda should spend the first coins of the season on the occasion of the Canadian Grand Prix, the seventh round of the 2016 Formula One world championship.
Also planned are several innovations on the thermal unit, extremely fragile despite the winter work, and a leap forward on energy recovery from the MGU-H system. It should be noted that Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button are strongly confident in these new updates for a permanent entry into Q3, given that Honda's top management have invested a large budget on this evolutionary package, also meeting the requests made by Woking in the days past.
Mclaren's objective for this championship is in fact to consistently achieve a top ten finish, only to then compete with the best in 2017 with a total restyling of the power train.
