Honda united only with McLaren for at least one season
Great hopes from Japan for the return of the victorious duo
McLaren will be the only customer Honda at least for next season. The head of Motorsport declared this to the f1.com website Yasuhisa Arai who also admitted that he strongly believed in victory from the first races.
“In 2015 we will not support anyone else – his words – If someone were to show interest, then we could evaluate the situation; in any case the plan is to keep the British team as the main reference also in 2016 given that we are above all interested in returning to success".
“As far as preparation is concerned, however, we are on a perfect schedule and the only thing missing is the overall check with the chassis – he continued – In the next few weeks we will do some simulations, while for the first public outing we will have to wait for the Jerez tests. Personally, I am convinced that we will immediately be able to compete on equal terms with the Mercedes-powered cars."
