Haug: There is no evidence that Rosberg wants to leave Mercedes

Norbert Haug in Turkey said it would make no sense to retain a driver who wants to race for another team in Formula 1.

“The migration of birds cannot be stopped,” the Mercedes boss declared to the German press. The comment came after rumors of Nico Rosberg's possible move to Ferrari or Red Bull.

Haug, however, reiterated that "at the moment there is no evidence that either of our two drivers wants to leave us".

But in his opinion the driver market in turmoil is part of Formula 1.

“The fact that we can look around and think about the future, and the pilots do the same, is completely legitimate and part of this world,” added Haug.

Rosberg's departure would create space for Paul di Resta, the Mercedes protégé who is impressing in his debut season with Force India.

“The link with Mercedes is not the only reason for the rumours,” said David Coulthard. “Paul has had a great start to his career in F1.”

Rosberg, however, did not want to comment on the transfer rumours: “I don't want to say anything about the rumours. At the moment I'm just focusing on the challenge of progressing with this team" we read in the Cologne Express.
