Hamilton: “I want to take Mercedes to the top”

Lewis Hamilton wants to take Mercedes to the top in Formula 1. After six years at McLaren, the 2008 world champion chose to move to the Mercedes-Benz team, replacing Michael Schumacher.

“Do better than Schumi?” he declared to Mediaset. "I dont think about it. He's a legend. Looking to the future, I would be happy if Mercedes were able to compete with the top teams,” explained the Englishman.

The 27-year-old has often been criticized for his behavior off the track, particularly in terms of public relations: “Each of us has a personality. It is necessary to be yourself and ignore what people say. The important thing is to be consistent” he added. “Sometimes we worry, sometimes we don't. Now I'm looking for stability in my life."

Then a comment on the most beautiful maneuvers in F1: “My favorite overtaking is that of Hakkinen on Schumacher at the end of the Spa straight (in 2000, ed.). But I've made some that I'm proud of too."
