Hamilton: “I'm happy for the Team”
But the Briton believes that with a different strategy he could have won
Second place for Lewis Hamilton al Monaco Grand Prix 2014, in a race where the British driver was unable to catch his teammate Rosberg, who splashed away at the start and never recovered, despite various attempts to close. The 2008 world champion suffered quite a bit on the Monegasque circuit, first on Saturday, after losing the chance to chase pole due to the display of yellow flags due to Rosberg's sudden stop and then in the race, where the return strategy in the pits for the pit stop would have penalized him in some way.
After the entry of the second safety car and the exit from the pits again behind Rosberg, who had stopped before him, a Hamilton decidedly annoyed, he asked his team for explanations via radio, perhaps casting doubt on the strategy implemented. “It's irrelevant now,” commented the pilot Mercedes. “The safety car came out at the ideal moment for Nico and I didn't have a chance at that moment.”
“I think there is a rule that the driver in front has the preference to stop first; I think this is the reason."
In short, the only chance Lewis would have had to beat Rosberg, was somehow not granted to him.
And regarding the conflict between him and his teammate, Hamilton seems to be a little less conciliatory than German. Asked whether the problems between the two could not be resolved, the Briton replied: "I don't have an answer."
Hamilton he was however satisfied with having contributed positively to the team's score.
“I felt very strong on track today and I really rode with all my heart, giving my all to improve my position. It wasn't my weekend but I'm happy that we brought home another double and I have even more determination and energy ahead of the next race."
“We have a fantastic car and everyone who works on it deserves this victory,” he concluded.
