Hamilton positive despite retiring in Brazil

Lewis Hamilton he feels good and will be comfortable in the winter break despite having to withdraw from the last race of the year due to a gearbox problem on lap 47.

At the start Hamilton slipped to fifth position and after various stages of the race ended up behind Felipe Massa. While he was fighting for position with the Ferrari driver, his gearbox failed, forcing him into a forced retirement. Hamilton revealed that the problem had arisen in the early stages of the race but he still enjoyed battling wheel-to-wheel with his rival.

“It's been an interesting year, today I gave everything and I liked the race,” the Englishman told the BBC. “It was unfortunate for the team not to get more points, but I enjoyed racing. I fought from start to finish despite the gearbox problem appearing at the start. I struggled with every gear change."

The Englishman said he will go into the winter break in a positive state of mind despite this being one of the most difficult seasons he has ever had.

“It's been a long, long year, I'm looking forward to getting some rest and spending some time with family and friends, training and then getting back to it in the new year,” added the Englishman. “I can still improve many things, I feel positive despite not having a good result today”.
