Hamilton: “I apologize to Massa for the contact”
Lewis Hamilton ended the new controversy with Felipe Massa by admitting his responsibility for the contact with the Brazilian during the Formula 1 Japanese GP. The Englishman admitted that he did not see the Ferrari driver attempt to overtake on the outside.
“This was a disappointing race for me but it was a fantastic day for Jenson and the whole team. Jenson did a great job today, he really deserved this victory. However, I will continue to keep my head high and look forward to the next race, where I hope to have another chance,” said Hamilton.
“Clearly, our car has the pace to win, but I wasn't able to compete today so I'll go away and check the data to see how we can be competitive in Korea next weekend. In the race I don't really know what happened with Felipe Massa, the mirrors vibrate at high speed, and I didn't see him come alongside me. I want to apologize for our contact, fortunately nothing happened to both of us. There were no bad intentions towards Felipe; I have the utmost respect for him, he is a fantastic rider and he was extremely fast today. Finally, big congratulations to Sebastian for winning the title. We all knew this would happen, but this season made no mistakes. It's a great result for him” concluded Hamilton.
