Hamilton: “I limited the damage”

He tries Lewis Hamilton to catch the Mercedes of his teammate, but on the Austrian track of Red Bull Ring the Briton has to settle for second place. A spectacular start for the 2008 world champion, who from ninth position shoots up to the shoulders of Alonso, fourth, managing to get past him on the second lap. The British driver will then suffer throughout the race behind Rosberg, trying everything in the last laps without managing to get close enough to cross the finish line in first position.
However, the final result was fantastic given the start from the fifth row.

“The start was actually the best of the year, as I hadn't had such great ones before, and the Team helped me with this,” he declared Hamilton at a press conference.

“It was one of the best I've ever done for how the car behaved and how I managed to recover positions. I shouldn't have started from there this weekend but going from ninth to second was the best way to limit the damage and also be able to put pressure on Nico, given the pace he had this weekend."
