If any of you had passed by chance through the Monza park this morning, you might have come across the two-time world champion, busy, together with the legend of F1 Stirling Moss, on the Brianza circuit.
Past and present of Mercedes as a couple, at the wheel of two jewels from the Stuttgart company dating back to 1955: the Sport 300 SLR , W196 F1 (also in the faired version). A photo session organized by the division Classic of the three-pointed star, which takes its historic cars around the world.

The occasion was an important one: celebrating the success of the Mille Miglia of the mythical Moss behind the wheel of Mercedes 300 SLR, exactly 60 years ago. In the same year also the beautiful victory of another great of the past, Juan Manuel Fangio, With the Mercedes W196 in Italian GP.
The arrival of Moss a Monza it was equally exciting, with the former champion retracing a stretch of the historic route of the Mille Miglia – the Futa state road – whizzing between Tuscany and Emilia at the wheel of his Mercedes 300 SLR.
Waiting for him at Monza, as if to represent a virtual passing of the baton, the present of Mercedes, the young world champion Lewis Hamilton, to savor the immortal curves of the historic Italian track together.

With the W196 Hamilton he was also able to experience a dive into the past, becoming the protagonist of some laps on the causeway, now a symbol of the racing of the past.
A unique experience for the young champion which, as he himself said, caused him quite a few shivers. Despite his experience, the victories and the two titles collected, it wasn't exactly a walk in the park to keep such a single-seater on the track on a curve like those of Formula 1 in the past.
