Hamilton and Mercedes don't stop
“But we can still improve.”
On the Barcelona circuit, Lewis Hamilton literally dominates the first day of free practice Spanish GP 2014.
The pilot of the Mercedes he impressed in both sessions, easily placing himself at the top of the standings and leaving his rivals high and dry once again, even if the weekend is still to be played out. The car developed by the Brackley team was perfect from all points of view, with times that forced their opponents to chase the current leader in the standings both in the morning and in the afternoon.
“It was a wonderful day and I'm really happy to be back on track after the break of almost a month since the last event in China. It's clear that we've taken a further step forward, so I want to thank everyone who worked hard on the car once we returned from Shanghai." Lewis Hamilton is satisfied with how the weekend began in Barcelona, with the best time recorded in both of the two free practice sessions.
“In today's free practice I didn't have any problems; I haven't had such a good Friday in a long time!” the Brit joked. “Barcelona is a difficult circuit from a tire point of view, so we focused on the durability of the tires and in the afternoon we were able to make several changes which proved to be positive.”
“Overtaking on this track is not easy at all,” he continued Hamilton, "for this reason tomorrow I will do my best to secure a place in the front row at the start, even if everything will be at stake in the race: paying attention to the tires is the first rule".
