Hamilton and McLaren welcome Schumacher's return

Hamilton has welcomed Michael Schumacher's return to F1, and says he is looking forward to dueling with the seven-time world champion.
Hamilton has never raced against Schumacher, as he debuted in the queen category of motorspot in 2007, therefore after the German's retirement in 2006.

“It's great to see Michael back in F1. I used to go to see him when I raced in the minor categories, and I always hoped to race in F1 before he retired. I'm really looking forward to seeing him on the track.”

“He is a legend and a good guy, and I am happy that he can go back to doing the best job in the world: racing in Formula One. I wish him all the best as he returns to a team like Mercedes-Benz."

According to Martin Whitmarsh, however, Schumacher's return will be a big boost for Formula One.

“I think I can share the sentiment with every single F1 fan in the world that Schumacher's return is incredibly exciting.”

“I have no doubt that Michael has looked at this return from every angle, so I believe he has the fearsome drive and determination needed to succeed in F1.

Obviously Michael is a seven-time world champion, so he has nothing to prove. It will be fascinating to see what he will be able to do with another team.”

“To Michael, Norbert Haug, Ross Brawn, Nick Fry and every member of the Mercedes GP, we send our best wishes and congratulations. We look forward to exciting races in 2010.”
