Hamilton: “Glad to have completed the Friday programme”

Lewis Hamilton is satisfied with the pace of his Mercedes in free practice for the Malaysian F1 GP. The Englishman set the fastest time in the first session while in Free Practice 2 he set the fourth fastest time.

“I'm happy with our progress between the two sessions today, we were able to complete our programme,” commented Hamilton. “The car looks good and we have focused on understanding the tires and finding the optimal balance for the weekend. There are areas where we can improve so we will continue to work on them, rather than be distracted by what others are doing,” added the Englishman.

“It was tough with the high temperatures and humidity so it's important to hydrate well here. We would really like to get a good result this weekend, especially as it is Petronas' home race, but it is impossible to predict what will happen at this stage. It's one of the most challenging races of the year so we need to make sure we put all the pieces of the puzzle in the right place,” concluded Hamilton.
