Hakkinen increasingly close to becoming Hamilton's manager

Rumors of Mika Hakkinen potentially being hired as Lewis Hamilton's manager have intensified this week. The McLaren driver has been looking for a new manager since he decided to end the professional relationship that tied him to his father Anthony.

The two-time world champion Hakkinen already manages the career of a young F3 driver who is part of the Aces Group, the company owned by Didier Cotton, the Finn's manager.

Last Sunday the 1-year-old said: “Maybe I will return to FXNUMX as a manager.”

Tuttosport newspaper now reports that an agreement between Aces/Hakkinen and Hamilton could be finalized in the near future.

Hamilton's career is currently managed by McLaren itself, but the team's sporting director Martin Whitmarsh is pushing the driver to choose an "independent" manager.

Hakkinen won his two world titles in a McLaren and retired from F1 in 2001.
