Hakkinen: “Hamilton should learn to lose”

Lewis Hamilton should apologize to Nico Rosberg for his behavior at the Monaco GP. This is the opinion of two-time world champion Mika Hakkinen. “I appreciate Nico's patience in this situation,” the Finn told Ilta Sanomat newspaper. “I don't like what Lewis did” he added, in reference to Hamilton's accusations about the German's alleged voluntary mistake in qualifying and the refusal to congratulate Rosberg on the victory.

“It's hard to say whether anything between them will change significantly,” Hakkinen explained. “I don't know if Lewis will apologize for his behaviour. It's a very personal thing. But in my opinion, one of the characteristics of a good winner is knowing how to lose,” added Hakkinen. The former McLaren driver, who retired in 2001, was in Monte Carlo last weekend and was not certain that Rosberg's mistake in qualifying was intentional: "It's clear to me that he ended up locking the brakes at Mirabeau" he added. “There it is downhill and with many bumps so it is easy to make mistakes. Nico is an honest guy,” he added, “but you can also see from the telemetry where he braked.”
