Haas, Gutierrez: “Quite a difficult weekend for the team”
Grosjean: "Truly absurd situation"
Seventeenth and twenty-first positions for Esteban Gutierrez and Romain Grosjean in qualifying for the Mexican Grand Prix, the third to last round of the 2016 Formula One World Championship. Despite the push from the home crowd, Guierrez was unable to gain access to Q3, finishing his qualifying at the back of the grid. Same goes for Grosjean. Haas has suffered from a lack of rear grip all weekend and the situation may not change in this evening's race.
Here are the words of Esteban Gutierrez: “It was quite a difficult weekend for us. In qualifying we knew it wouldn't be easy, but we gave our all trying to get the best result possible. The fans were incredible: they supported me throughout qualifying and it was fantastic to see all this warmth towards me. We will try to study an aggressive strategy to recover positions and give an exciting race to these fantastic fans. They deserve it".
Here are Romain Grosjean's impressions: “It's a truly absurd situation. In yesterday's free practice the car worked quite well, while today nothing went right. We couldn't find the right grip with the super soft compounds and the result was an absolutely disastrous qualifying. We can only roll up our sleeves and try to do our best in the race."
