Haas, Grosjean: “I suffered from the lack of grip on the track”

Positive qualification for Haas F1 on the new Azeri track in Baku. Despite numerous long runs during Q2, Romain Grosjean came close to qualifying for Q3 by just a few thousandths, finishing in eleventh position, about a tenth behind the last qualifier. A different story however for Esteban Gutierrez, author of thirteenth place on the grid.

Here are the words of Romain Grosjean: “Pretty good result considering the problems on Friday. Let's say we couldn't expect anything better. I struggled with grip during the whole session and the traffic also didn't help us. I made several long runs, but during Q2 we managed to improve and not making the final qualifying was a shame. Overall it was a good qualifying."

Here are Esteban Gutiérrez's impressions: “Today was not a good day for me. I struggled with the brakes a bit. On the last lap I took a couple of risks and made a small mistake. Unfortunately, I didn't get another chance after that. Overall, I think sometimes you have to take risks and these things happen. In racing you have to try to make the most of every opportunity and, from time to time, it comes out this way. Thinking about tomorrow, we will try to advance as much as possible and get the best of our performances. The track will allow for some overtaking, so it will be a great race to watch. ”
