Grosjean: “I would have liked to continue with Renault”
The late timing led the Swiss driver to accept the Haas proposal
A few days after the press conference that officially projected him into a stars and stripes dimension, Romain Grosjean wanted to explain the reasons for the end of the relationship with Lotus, which started way back in 2005 and resulted in the definitive promotion to F1 in 2012 after a brief tasted in 2009.
“I would have really liked to be part of the Renault project, the problem is that it was announced too late and by then Haas had made me an interesting proposal” – he explained to the BBC.
“Honestly, it was also the substantial presence of Ferrari in this team that won me over – he continued – Not that I have the illusion of joining it in two/three seasons from now, but perhaps of getting closer in the future. They will certainly be paying attention to our performances, so the better we do, the better my chances will be of going to Maranello one day."
This week the French motor manufacturer made public its intention to take over the Enstone group.
