Grosjean: “After the podium in Canada I'm living a dream”

Romain Grosjean is still celebrating his second place in Canada: the Lotus driver, back at the Enstone headquarters, was acclaimed by technicians and mechanics for his extraordinary race in Montreal.

“To be honest, I'm still celebrating”, the Frenchman said on his team's website. “It's great to be here in Enstone to see how the whole team is positive and motivated after a good result over the weekend. You can really see how hard it is to work to push the car towards the results that count, and we hope that the performances we've had so far will give the guys even more confidence in what we can achieve as a team.". Grosjean thinks back to the Montreal race and the second place he grabbed a few laps from the end, after a one-stop strategy: “There are so many memories after such a beautiful weekend. The key moment was two laps before the finish line, when I overtook Fernando Alonso and saw the gap getting longer, it was a great feeling. Of course, standing on the podium is really special, but celebrating with the team was also a real highlight for me.”

When the Frenchman arrived in Enstone, he was greeted by a very long round of applause from all the Lotus employees. A magical moment for a driver who arrived quietly, accused of being a bastard, while so far he has proven to be equal if not better than his renowned teammate, Kimi Raikkonen. “It was crazy, for once I didn't know what to say! As soon as I arrived in Enstone to work with the engineers, I could see all the people who are not with us when we travel. I had the opportunity to thank them, so it was great to have this opportunity this week.”. But he wasn't just acclaimed by his technicians: sport also took notice of this boy, who last year was GP2 champion and suddenly Grosjean became a star, appearing on the covers of various prestigious magazines. “For any French sportsman, to be on the cover of L'Equipe is a great honor. It is one of the largest newspapers in the country, so when I saw it I was really surprised. It's like a dream, I'm very proud of this moment and I hope to continue with my results in the future too", concluded the Lotus standard bearer.
