Seb and Kimi complete the first day of testing in Monza

Italian Grand Prix – “Something is still missing”

Monza – The first day of the home Grand Prix for Ferrari was resolved in two test sessions without problems, but not completely satisfactory. The Scuderia Ferrari drivers did their best to adapt to the conditions of a track whose very low wing loading levels make it a unique event on the calendar. Seb commented: “Today was a bit of a mess and I hope tomorrow will be better. This afternoon for the first part of the session we mostly used Soft tyres, but I'm not entirely happy because we had a lot of traffic and the virtual safety car. So it wasn't the day one always wants to have, but I imagine it was the same for everyone. Overall we should have a sufficient amount of data to analyze. If we can improve some points tomorrow, then it should be better. In the last two years Mercedes have been strong here, but we remain focused on ourselves. We're trying to improve the car because we're still missing something, and we'll start from there."

Teammate Kimi Raikkonen feels that the potential of the SF70H has not yet been fully exploited: “It wasn't an easy day; For some reason I had trouble driving and positioning the car the way I wanted. I tried to improve the overall balance. For tomorrow we definitely have work to do, but Fridays are always like this. It's difficult to comment on the performance; this was only the first day of free practice, the lap times don't mean much and we don't know what the others are doing. If we manage to modify the car the way we want it, then we can improve and be faster."
The last free practice session will start tomorrow at 11:00, while qualifying will be at 14:00.
