Thursday statements

Lewis Hamilton: «This is always a special weekend for us English riders. Coming here, seeing and greeting your fans, also I was at the Goodwood festival and I could see how many people support us. It's really exciting for riders like me and Jenson to know we're home, I hope we can put on an excellent show with the hope that the weather will always be good. As regards the races in Canada and Austria, there were technological problems in the first and driving problems in the second; It may not always go as expected, but you have to stay focused and strong. I certainly learned something from it, but nothing really relevant.”

Jenson Button: «As always, it is a special occasion to race this Grand Prix and I believe it is for every driver, not just for the English. Silverstone always has a good layout as a track, in all weather conditions, but what is worth the most for a driver racing "at home" like me is the support of the fans in the stands, who cheer you on regardless of the position you are in . This is why when I go out on track tomorrow I will greet them from my car. This is my fifth consecutive year with McLaren and what I can say is that I am doing as much as I can, this is also the mentality of the team, which has been working really hard since the beginning of the season. We are not where we wanted to be, it's true, but we are working hard to get results. It's not up to me to say whether or not they will arrive now."

Felipe Massa: «A great way to celebrate my 200th Grand Prix is to be here at a historic circuit like Silverstone. Many years have passed since I started racing in 2002 and I think I have achieved a great goal, among other things it is also Williams' home race, so I hope we can have a great race. Here everyone knows Formula One and single-seaters well, I often sign really beautiful fan photos, which symbolizes how much passion they have and how close they are to us. It's a really good feeling. Team Williams – Martini is truly a great team and they race here at home, so it will be a very important race for them, for me and for Valtteri also for championship purposes. We are working hard and the results are coming race after race, a symbol of quality work.»

Valtteri Bottas: «I think the Mercedes have made great developments and it's difficult for us to keep up with their race pace - apart from Austria for the moment - and as much as we improve the other teams are certainly not watching. We do our best, the results will then be seen on the track. We were very happy with Austria's 3rd and 4th place, we collected a lot of points for the constructors' title and that's a good thing. After each race we analyze the data in detail and see where we could have improved and by pursuing this path we managed to correct ourselves, a symbol of excellent team work.

Max Chilton: «I am very happy to race my home GP. Last year was even more special as it was my first in a Formula One. I hope to be able to offer a good show to both the fans and my team. As a rider I'm still growing, it's all a question of experience and this is why in the last few races I start in front of my teammate. Ours is a strange sport because we have simulators but we can't really get on the track six hours a day, as is possible in other sports such as tennis. So the more time you manage to spend aboard a single-seater, the more you will improve, that's for sure."

Daniel Kvyat: «In the last three qualifying sessions I finished in the top 10 twice, which indicates good work and a fast car, however we suffer from a reliability point of view, which led me to retire each time. However, I am confident because we know that we can fight for good positions, that's what counts. I confirm what I said at the beginning of the season, I like Formula One and I believe that as a Team we are doing our best. I'm always learning new things and trying to apply them over the following weekends, but we're only halfway through the season after all. We just have to see how the second part goes."
