Malaysian Grand Prix – “We could have improved further”

Sepang, Malaysia – The weather improved just enough for it to stop raining; and the second free practice session was held under cloudy but dry skies. The Scuderia Ferrari drivers, Seb and Kimi, concentrated on their program and achieved the best time at the end of the tests, interrupted by the red flag around ten minutes from the end, when Grosjean punctured his right rear tire on the raised grille of a manhole, crashing into the barriers: a few moments earlier, Kimi had grazed the same point.

Seb commented: “This morning the conditions were uncertain and we didn't ride much. Things went better in the afternoon and the car performed well from the start of the session. Then we tried some things, but unfortunately we couldn't complete our program as we wanted due to the red flag. We'll see what to do tomorrow. Today is only Friday, the day we usually go around trying different things. We would have liked to ride a little more, but all in all it was a good afternoon. We have a good car and it's up to us to make it work in all conditions."

Kimi adds: “Today went well and everything went smoothly. In the morning we tested in the wet and only managed to do a few laps. In the afternoon the session was shortened due to the problem that arose on the track. It's a shame we weren't able to take advantage of the entire session, because we definitely could have improved. But the car was fine: I made a few mistakes when I had new tyres, but other than that it was a good day. Today's times don't mean much since we don't know what others have done."
