Thursday statements

Lewis Hamilton:«You ask me if I will aim to safeguard the reliability of the car or I will fight with Nico to not let him gain points. What can I say, a good question. However, I don't know which one to choose, I think they are both important. All the guys in the team have worked hard to solve the problems related to the car and I hope that both Nico and I can aim to do the best we can without technical problems. I don't think I'm in control of the situation, as I was a few races ago when I was second in the championship, as I keep saying: just fight and score the decisive "goal" at the right time. I believe that here in America Formula One has a good audience, you just need to see how people love different sports - NASCAR for motors - and are enthusiastic about wheel-to-wheel duels. Yesterday I was in New York and I saw a bunch of people outside the building I was in with different Formula One gadgets, which was very cool."

Daniel Ricardo:«I'm really happy with how this season is going, it's definitely beyond my expectations and also those who support me I think. A few more races at the end of the championship... I'd like to get some more good results and I think Austin is a good chance to try. Honestly, I like this circuit and I think it's the best for overtaking. It's true, next year I will be the leader of the team despite my young age and at my side I will have Daniil (Kvyat), who I know and know how to be very fast, I will not take him too lightly even though he still has little experience, I believe he will know give a lot to the team in the future. I haven't reached my peak yet and I know I can improve, so I will try to continue my journey.»

Valtteri Bottas:«I have good memories of this circuit since a year ago I scored my first points in Formula One here. I like the track and I think it's the same for every rider present here, the atmosphere and the crowd make it a unique race. Next year's goal is to improve further and I know we can do it. I think the Austin circuit suits the characteristics of our Williams quite well, it will be difficult to have the pace of the Mercedes like in Sochi and we will probably fight with Red Bull and Ferrari.»

Romain Grosjean:«Last year I came second here in Texas, I have great memories of it. If I look at this year, however, I see that I only scored twice in the points and I can say that next year's Lotus will be far better than this year's for a few valid reasons: a lot of work is being done in the factory and the fact that a new nose cone was brought here to test with a view to 2015 is an example of this. I have a contract with the team that allows me to leave whenever I want but I want to stay here and look to the future confidently. It's been a difficult season on and off the track, I lost four people I loved but there's some good news, I'm going to be a father again! I wanted to give this good news in such dark times."

Sergio Pérez:«The contract renewal with Force India is very close and I would very much like to remain in this team. I've been in the top flight for 4 years and I think I've changed too many teams, I'd like to "anchor" myself here for now. I hope everything goes well and my contract renewal with Force India can be announced. We are quite close to Mexico, where we will return to racing next year and I can tell you that expectations are high. Many people are excited about this return of the top flight. The renovation works are being done at the right time and the whole town is excited knowing that they are hosting such an important event, it will be a great event.»

Esteban Gutierrez:«As Sergio said, it will be nice to have the warmth of our fellow citizens around as it is the home Grand Prix and it is nice to have more races on the American continent. I think it's good for everyone. Talking about the championship with Sauber, we give it our all every weekend to do our best and we have been close to the points several times. However, we had some problems that prevented us from achieving concrete results but we still have three races to reach the points. We will have to make the best of what comes and make the most of every opportunity and yes, hope to take those points that we would like so much."
