US GP, Vettel: “We definitely can't be happy this weekend”

Only one podium in the last ten races, the one in Monza. The (negative) roadmap continues Sebastian Vettel, struggling with a car that is unable to keep up with Mercedes and Red Bull, who have managed to overtake the Red in terms of competitiveness.

It wasn't an easy weekend for Sebastian, struggling with balance problems that also affected qualifying, in which he wasn't able to give that little bit extra as he always has. The pace in the race, however, seemed better than what we saw on Saturday: "I think we were more competitive in the race than we were yesterday. For several laps we were competitive and towards the end of the stints we had good speed, although in the end I inherited two positions thanks to problems with Verstappen and, unfortunately, Kimi. This could have been an excellent opportunity to gain some points on Red Bull for the Constructors' Championship. Overall the race went better than qualifying, even if it was difficult. I think we can be happy with the pace we showed today” commented the German after finishing in fourth place.

A problem with the rear wing also limited the red number 5, although they certainly did not have a radical influence, given that Vettel also managed to obtain the fastest lap in the final laps of the race: "There are several things that influenced the performance between yesterday and today. Yesterday the balance of the car wasn't bad, but we were always at the limit. Today we were able to manage more laps with the tyres, despite always being at the limit, but we were more competitive. We certainly can't be happy this weekend with the speed we showed, but there are also positive sides, even if everything seems difficult for us at the moment. There are many things we are learning and understanding from the machine which could be important for the future" concluded the Ferrari driver.
