Malaysian GP, Vettel: “We are growing again”

After an excellent performance in Singapore, Sebastian Vettel prepares for the Malaysian Grand Prix, one of the most difficult events in the entire world championship for drivers and teams.

There will be many unknowns that the teams will have to face this season, starting from the new asphalt, up to the new inclination of some corners which will put the riders to the test: "We did very well here last yearwhen it was very hot. This year doesn't seem so extreme, at least so far, but that could change" – commented Vettel on Thursday Malaysia -. “There is new asphalt, much darker, which could reach very high temperatures, causing different reactions for the car and the tires, and so on. So there are many variables, and we will have to know how to manage them all, hoping to get the moves right on Saturday afternoon and Sunday. As for the different slope in some curves, I don't know what to say: in some corners, like 5, the lateral inclination, or camber, is greater. A positive camber helps you go fast, but a negative camber, the counterslope, causes grip problems especially in slow corners, like the last one."

Compared to the races before the summer break, we saw some improvements from Ferrari, with performances at least comparable to those of Red Bull. There are also some planned for this weekend updates that will help the Red team progress: “In the last few races we have seen that we are starting to grow again, so in theory the mood is positive, the car works well. We have some new parts, and we hope they will help us be even more competitive. We need to find the rhythm immediately. There is always a chance to win, anything can happen on Sunday afternoon and that's why we are here, that's how I feel on the starting grid: you can always win. There are six races left, the objective is to do well in all of them and try to finish first: I know it's very ambitious, but we'll move forward race by race and see what we can do" concluded the German.
