Italian GP: Felipe Massa under investigation for a violation in free practice 1

Felipe Massa is under investigation for an alleged violation of the rules during free practice. The Ferrari driver apparently ignored a red light at the end of the pit lane.

The Brazilian was preparing for a practice run at the end of the first session when he stopped beyond the white pitlane line immediately after the red light.

Massa said on the radio: "The light was red so I braked and stopped after the line, so I don't know if it's good or not."

Massa and a Ferrari representative were summoned to see the stewards immediately after the session to explain what happened, and the investigation is still ongoing.

A statement released by the stewards this afternoon said a decision on the matter would only be taken once further data had been made available to them.

The hearing was delayed “pending the commissioners' receipt of additional technical information from the FOM.”
