German GP increasingly at risk for 2017

Ecclestone admitted that reconfirmation is still a long way off

German GP increasingly at risk for 2017

2017 could give us a calendar without any German races. After returning in 2016 the circuit of Hockneheim has been provisionally placed on the calendar for next year, but the future appears more uncertain than ever.

Initially, the Nurburgring circuit was supposed to host the race, only to then withdraw due to financial problems, the same ones that have recently put Hocknheim in doubt.

Confirmation came from Bernie Ecclestone: “Hocknheim is not yet certain for next year – he revealed to Bild – If they are not willing to pay the sum that the other promoters in Europe also pay, a race in Germany will be almost impossible”.

The organizers are trying to do everything possible to sign the renewal, but under conditions that the budgets are not at a loss. There had been thoughts of sharing promotional and financial responsibilities with Ecclestone but no official confirmation has yet arrived. It will be a much warmer winter than usual on German soil.
