Italian GP in Monza: Vettel happy with the renewal

After so much uncertainty, the long-awaited announcement has finally arrived this week that the renewal of the Italian Grand Prix in Monza will take place: there is an agreement between the promoters of the Brianza circuit and Bernie Ecclestone and only the signature is missing to make everything official which, for legal reasons, will have to take place in London in a few days.

Among the many in favor of the renewal there is also Sebastian Vettel, happy that a turning point has been reached: “I think we all love this track. Here I raced with Ferrari and with other teams, but obviously racing for the Red is special. But leaving this aside, you can't forget that it's a fantastic track and that there's an incredible atmosphere".

68 million will be needed to keep Formula 1 in Italy, 17 million more than the previous agreement. According to the Ferrari driver, however, you shouldn't look at the economic aspect, because Monza is much more than money: “We need this track on the calendar and the renewal is fantastic news, even if I don't know how much they will have to pay, but we should always race here, because whatever the contract made, Monza must be on the calendar. Monza doesn't just mean money, but much more. It means history, tradition, racing, enthusiasm, Ferrari, so there are many reasons why we should come and race here" the German then concluded.
