Belgian GP, Renault: a better qualifying than expected

After the numerous difficulties encountered yesterday, a very difficult qualifying seemed to be ahead for Renault, looking for a good balance that had not been found. Thanks to the work carried out during the night and the decrease in temperatures compared to yesterday, the two drivers managed to make better use of their car, both managing to get into Q2 and coming close, at least with Kevin Magnussen, to Q3.

Magnussen he is satisfied with today's qualifying, but believes there is still room for improvement, given the mistake he made on his fastest lap: “Today we had better pace than we expected and it was a nice surprise, Obviously. My lap wasn't even perfect; I locked the tires in turn 1 and lost a lot of time. I thought it was over, but I pushed for the rest of the lap and got a good time. Even though we are in twelfth position, I think we can do more and this is encouraging for tomorrow's race” said the Dane.

His teammate is also on the same line, Jolyon Palmer, who hopes to be able to take advantage of the new set of tires left available to score points: “I'm quite happy with my performance. It's the second time I've managed to get to Q2 and we can be happy given the difficult day we saw yesterday. We are making progress. There are many unknowns for tomorrow, if temperatures increased tire degradation would be significantly more important, but we have an advantage. Everyone in the top ten will start on used tyres, while we have a new set. Now we look at the race and hope to be able to finish in the top ten."
