Belgian GP, Kimi Raikkonen: “An uphill race”

Kimi Raikkonen He had a Belgian Grand Prix below his expectations, Iceman in fact hoped to obtain a good result on his favorite track but at the start he found himself sandwiched between teammate Vettel and the Red Bull driver Verstappen, following some contacts with both of the team's car Finn was heavily damaged, forcing him to pit. The entry of the Safety Car helped him return to the group to attempt a difficult comeback, the Ferrari standard-bearer was therefore able to climb from last place to ninth, but the expectations on the eve of the race were very different.

“After the start, at the first corner, Sebastian didn't realize that I had a car inside: he expected me to move, but I couldn't, so I found myself stuck between him and Max. We touched and this compromised everything else about my race. It was an uphill race, the floor of my car was damaged, but we still managed to recover some positions, we did our best and it wasn't easy. I'm not against duels if they are correct and in my opinion what happened at Eau Rouge with Verstappen was not. I was at top speed and I was forced to lift my foot before turn 5, because he cut me off while I was trying to overtake him. I have never had similar problems with another driver, if I hadn't braked I would have hit him at full speed and there would have been a bad accident. It's difficult to know how it would have gone without the first corner problem, difficult to know what the real speed of our car was, but it had been going well all weekend. This wasn't the result we expected, it's a shame, but sometimes racing goes like that.”
