Canadian GP: reprimand for Maldonado
For not reattaching the steering wheel
di Staff7 June, 2014
Pastor Maldonado was reprimanded by the stewards of the Canadian GP for not having hung up the steering wheel after the stop on the track during qualifying in Montreal. Maldonado stopped at Turn 4 in Q1 with a turbo problem but, after removing the steering wheel to exit the car, he did not reattach it. This means that it was difficult for the stewards to remove his car.
“Yes, I forgot to put it back” admitted the Venezuelan. There was a problem with the turbo, over the radio they told me to stop and I did. It's nothing serious, it's the turbo failing but the engine isn't damaged. It shouldn't be a big deal."
Maldonado closed qualifying with the 17th fastest time.
