GP Canada: Still doubts for 2017

Negotiations continue to confirm the Montreal race for next season

GP Canada: Still doubts for 2017

Work continues Canada to allow the Montreal GP to be officially confirmed also in 2017.

The provisional calendar released by the FIA has in fact reported the race as one of those awaiting confirmation. Despite this, tickets are already on sale at home, with promoters revealing that negotiations with Ecclestone are still ongoing.

A recent investigation by the Quebec newspaper La Presse stated that the city of Montreal would be ready to inject money into the coffers of the organizers to allow them to fulfill their commitments.

The Municipality would inject 4 million dollars into the facility's coffers to carry out the renovation and modernization works on the circuit which could thus be completed by 2019.

In exchange for this generous donation, Montreal is reportedly negotiating an extension of the contract with FIA for another five years.

The solution appears to have been accepted "in principle" by both parties but no one has yet confirmed the indiscretion with official statements. The Municipality said it is confident that the race will be included in the official calendar. Developments will follow.
