GP Brazil, Free Practice 3: Button the fastest

Best time for Jenson Button in the third and final free practice session of the Brazilian Formula 1 GP. The English McLaren driver lapped in 1.13.188, preceding the world championship leader Sebastian Vettel by just 57 thousandths. Third time for the other Red Bull of Mark Webber who precedes the McLaren of Lewis Hamilton. Fifth time for Romain Grosjean (Lotus) ahead of the Force Indias of Paul di Resta and Nico Hulkenberg. Only eighth and tenth times for the Ferraris of Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa. Among them Maldonado's Williams. The session took place under overcast skies and high temperatures.

Schumacher and Rosberg set the first benchmark times after the first seven minutes. After five minutes Raikkonen suffered another engine problem after yesterday's and was forced to park his Lotus. Shortly afterwards Button took the lead with 1.13.858 while Vettel moved up to second position ahead of Hamilton and Webber.

The Ferraris of Massa and Alonso started running consistently after the first 25 minutes. Massa moved into fourth place behind Hamilton while Alonso moved up to sixth.

With 20 minutes to go Schumacher was the first to mount the medium tyres, imitated by Rosberg and gradually by all the others. Senna spun at turn 13 right in front of the German but managed to return to the pits while Vettel ran wide, jumping over the curbs before returning to the track.

Five minutes from the end all the riders poured onto the track. Button improved his time to 1.13.188 and behind him came Webber, Grosjean, Di Resta, Hamilton and Hulkenberg.

At the end Hamilton moved up to fourth place, Vettel to second while Alonso finished eighth fastest ahead of Maldonado and Massa. The clouds continue to gather over the Interlagos circuit.
