GP Brazil, Interlagos towards renewal until 2020

The mayor of Sao Paulo, Fernando Haddad, declared that next month the Interlagos circuit will sign the renewal of its contract to host F1 until 2020. Recently the CEO of the premier category, Bernie Ecclestone declared that Brazil would be excluded from the calendar without modernization works on the route.

Haddad responded by reiterating that he had sent a letter to the FIA ​​assuring that the work will be carried out. And Ecclestone declared in Bahrain: "I have just received a letter from the mayor and he has guaranteed that the renovation of the structures has been deliberated, it is positive, we have waited long enough."

Haddad explained: “In May, we will sign the contract, F1 will race here until 2020. We just have to sign the papers. It was a long negotiation, we just couldn't commit to something we couldn't do. It's a huge job. A long-term contract is necessary, because we will invest more than 100 million dollars and we cannot do it without the security of a contract. It is reasonable to reach 2020 with the agreement."
