Alonso returned to the track in eighth position ahead of Webber who, however, managed to overtake him with a great overtaking in Eau Rouge. Sutil also entered the fight between the two for seventh position and managed to momentarily overtake Alonso. However, the Spaniard didn't give up and managed to overtake both of them in the space of a few kilometres, climbing to sixth position.

Meanwhile, in the top positions Massa stopped on lap 10 for his pit stop while Vettel, after overtaking Petrov and Kobayashi, also easily overtook Rosberg.

On lap 11 Alonso overtook Petrov and Kobayashi and shortly afterwards Webber also overtook the Russian driver. On the next lap, Rosberg also completed his stop while Alonso set the best time, moving into second place, 6 seconds behind Vettel. Shortly afterwards Webber passed Kobayashi at Les Combes to move into third place.
On lap 13 Hamilton and Kobayashi came into contact, the Englishman ended up spinning and then into the barriers, colliding head-on with his McLaren. After moments of apprehension with Hamilton not immediately getting out of the car, the McLaren driver then jumped out of the cockpit apparently without problems. On lap 21 Button managed to overtake Schumacher in seventh place. On the next lap Button also managed to overtake Sutil in sixth position while Perez fell to 14th position after serving a drive-through for contact with Buemi.

From lap 23 Vettel announced via radio that he had degradation problems with the front left tyre. On lap 24 Button attacked and overtook Massa in fifth place. The Englishman, unleashed, also overtook Rosberg, climbing to fourth position on lap 25. Meanwhile, Alonso also has blistering problems, albeit to a lesser extent than Red Bull.

On lap 29, Perez retired due to technical problems. Alonso returned on lap 29 for his second stop on medium tyres. The Spaniard returned to the track in fourth place behind Button.

On lap 31 Webber stopped and then handed over the race lead to Button. However, the Englishman was overtaken by Vettel who made the most of the DRS. He also stops for Sutil and Schumacher. On lap 32 Button put on soft tires again, leaving second position to Alonso and returning to the track behind Webber.

On lap 32 Massa was forced to make an extra stop due to a puncture. On lap 34 Schumacher overtook Sutil in sixth place. Webber managed to close the gap to Alonso with great progression. On lap 36 Webber managed to easily overtake Alonso and chase Vettel. Shortly afterwards Massa overtook Maldonado in ninth position. On lap 41, Mercedes ordered Rosberg to save fuel while Button, after having recovered the gap from Alonso, managed to overtake the Ferrari driver in third position.

Schumacher also overtook Rosberg shortly afterwards. Positions unchanged in the final laps with Vettel going on to win ahead of his teammate and Jenson Button. Alonso finished in fourth position with Ferrari ahead of Schumacher, who started last and fifth at the finish line ahead of Rosberg.
