Belgian GP: Spa safe, Shell new sponsor

The immediate future of the Formula 1 Belgian Grand Prix appears assured. Shell, the Dutch oil company already a sponsor of Ferrari, has signed a multi-year contract to become the main sponsor of the Spa-Francorchamps race.
The historic event in the Ardennes risked no longer being on the calendar due to financial difficulties.
“The Formula 1 Belgian GP is a milestone in the world championship calendar,” said Shell vice-president John Bullock.
Shell recently renewed its sponsorship of Ferrari until 2015.
