Raikkonen also improved with the soft tires and was fourth due to a mistake at turn 14 after the best partial times in the first and second sections. Barrichello finishes with the best time with 1.25.006 ahead of Button. Hamilton meanwhile slipped to 15th position but still managed to get through the round. Red Bull competitive in this phase with Vettel first with 1.25.121 and Webber third with 1.25.241. Shortly afterwards Rosberg is second just two thousandths behind his compatriot.

Kubica, who unlike Heidfeld does not have KERS, moves into third place. The German is 12th instead. Massa dropped to eighth place, Raikkonen to ninth.
