GP Abu Dhabi, Free Practice 2: Hamilton in the lead

Best time for Lewis Hamilton in the second free practice session of the Abu Dhabi GP. The sunset of Yas Marina saw the McLaren Mercedes driver, still fighting with a reduced chance of winning the drivers' title, lap in 1.40.888 ahead of rivals Sebastian Vettel (Red Bull Racing), Fernando Alonso (Ferrari) and Mark Webber (Red Bull Racing).

Despite the sharp drop in temperatures, lap times improved thanks to the rubber on the track.

Hamilton initially took the lead but was then overtaken by Alonso and Vettel. With the soft tires the Englishman then took the lead and his time remained unbeaten.

Fifth time for Robert Kubica with Renault ahead of Felipe Massa's Ferrari and Petrov's other Renault. Closing the top 10 are Button (McLaren), Liuzzi (Force India) and Rosberg (Mercedes GP).

While the first session did not see any noteworthy episodes, the second was more eventful.

Hamilton risked a collision with Bruno Senna's HRT at the end of a flying lap. Jaime Alguersuari spun his Toro Rosso while Massa remained stopped on the track, probably running out of petrol.
