GP Abu Dhabi 2013, Qualifying: Webber takes Pole Position

Mark Webber took pole position at the 2013 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, breaking teammate Vettel's streak of consecutive poles in second place. Behind them the two Mercedes followed by Raikkonen and Hulkenberg. Eighth Massa, eleventh Alonso.

In Q1 Di Resta was immediately on track followed by Sutil. Bianchi replaced the gearbox before qualifying. All the other drivers follow on the track, most of them with medium tyres. The two Red Bulls took to the track with only 9 minutes to go, confident of progress to the next heat. With just under 10 minutes to go, the drivers all put on soft tires with Hamilton breaking the 1:41 barrier by stopping the clock at 1:40.693. The following are eliminated: Gutierrez, Sutil, Van der Garde, Bianchi, Pic and Chilton.

The start of Q2 saw many drivers immediately take to the track. The first to leave the pits was Di Resta followed by Button. The best lap went to Rosberg, 1:40.473 while Hamilton finished 7 thousandths behind his teammate. In the final, Alonso was unable to reach the top ten, which was achieved by Massa who achieved tenth position. Eliminated: Alonso, Di Resta, Button, Vergne, Maldonado and Bottas.

In Q3, some made two attempts, others like Massa only one. The only one to go under 1:40 was Webber, who put in an excellent performance. Hulkenberg also did well and will start sixth. Eighth Mass.
