“Slick” tires already in the next Jerez tests?

Although there is no official information in this regard, some indiscretions have been relaunched by the Dutch magazine Formula 1 Race Report report on the upcoming use by the Formula 1 teams of some sets of "slick" tires already in the Jerez tests which will take place in two weeks.

The FIA, which announced at the beginning of the year its intention to soon abandon "grooved" tires, has not yet confirmed 2009 as the reference date, but the source reports that some members of BMW-Sauber, Red Bull and Honda have confirmed Bridgestone's commitment to immediately supply the new product for a series of tests. In this case, these would be tires directly derived from the "slicks" currently used in the GP2 series.
