Franco Gozzi, a protagonist in the history of Ferrari
One of Enzo Ferrari's closest collaborators
A piece of Prancing Horse history passed away today: Franco Gozzi passed away in Modena at the age of 81. “A fundamental figure in the history of Ferrari has left us” – said President Luca di Montezemolo – “Of him I remember above all the many hours spent together talking about drivers and cars and I am grateful to him for being close to me when I was a young director sportsman of the Scuderia".
It is difficult to condense in a single word what Franco was for the company: sporting director, press officer, communications director, above all one of Enzo Ferrari's closest collaborators and confidants. How much he was an active part, and not just a witness, of the life of the Maranello company can be understood by looking at the album of historical photographs in which, over a period of thirty years, he often appears next to the Founder: he was its spokesperson or, sometimes, the bearer of his silences.
Those who knew him closely and shared with him key moments and the daily life of the company remember his humanity and irony, those who met him in the last phase of his chapter of life in Maranello remember his great ability to transmit through apparently marginal anecdotes those values that have made Ferrari a myth throughout the world.
