In two seasons the Circus will be shaken by profound changes to the engine, tires and aerodynamics

Formula Revolution? Here's what will change in 2017

Formula 1 is ready to change throwing an eye on the past going to fish out some old solutions that it had been decided to put aside because they were considered obsolete. The Strategy Group met on several occasions in Canada at the world meeting in Montreal to talk in more depth from the future of Formula 1.

Even if it seems increasingly clear that the power units will undergo profound changes, the single-seaters will not remain unscathed by this revolution: wider tyres, aggressive look, reduced aerodynamics. Based on what Bernie Ecclestone has expressed since 2017 we could see more powerful engines, noisy and less expensive, starting the development from the current power units on which we will intervene heavily, for example by standardizing the various electrical components of the ERS. Not just the engine.

Return to wider single-seaters, 2 meters against the 180 centimeters currently imposed by the technical regulations. The Formula 1 revolution also involves wider tyres, to give more grip, going from the current 15 to the 18 inches of tread. A real revolution, impossible to implement from 2016, it is more realistic to talk about 2017, especially to follow up on the investments made by the Manufacturers.
