Formula 2 | Correa on the conclusion of the FIA investigations: “I have not received the full report”

Through a post published on Instagram, Juan Manuel Correa commented on the press release issued by the FIA on the investigation into the Spa accident, underlining how the FIA has not responded to the many questions posed by the American driver over the last few months.

According to Correa, the Federation closed the matter without disclosing the fundamental points of the investigation, an aspect which did not clarify some unclear points, especially in the dynamics of the accident in which poor Hubert lost his life.

“Last Friday the FIA announced that it had concluded its investigation into the accident which occurred on August 31 at Spa-Francorchamps and published a summary of their investigations,” wrote Juan Manuel Correa. “The FIA safety department has spent more than five months conducting this investigation, but for me their summary raises more questions than answers. I also find it surprising that the full accident report was not made available to me, so that I could have a clearer understanding of the findings.”

“On August 31, 2019, my friend and colleague lost his life,” he continued “A family lost a loved one and I suffered serious injuries. We can't change the past, but perhaps all this pain and sacrifice can have meaning if it helps make our sport safer. Accordingly, I will continue to work with my legal team to obtain a copy of the full incident report.”

“I hope to be able to comment further on the matter once the report has been made available to me and especially when I have a clearer view of the conclusions reached by the FIA. I want to have a clear idea of the improvements in terms of safety that the FIA intends to make." he concluded.
