Formula 1 | Wolff on the 2022 line-up: “We have a duty to evaluate everything”

In a chat given to motorsport.com, Toto Wolff spoke about the line-up that Mercedes will field starting from the 2022 season, highlighting how the team is not in a position to be able to exclude any scenario that has appeared in the press in recent weeks.

Despite the good "gregarious" performances shown by Bottas, Wolff highlighted how the team is evaluating all options for next year, including the promotion of a "little horse" between Ocon and Russell. An interesting statement that certainly "inflames" the market in view of the summer part of the championship.

“Should we confirm Bottas or take Russell alongside Hamilton? Valtteri is one of our drivers and I will always be loyal to our drivers, but we all have an obligation to evaluate the future and have long-term plans." said the Austrian from Mercedes. “In this regard we have to consider all possible options for both cars. And since we have two juniors, Esteban Ocon and George Russell, we have to evaluate everything.”

“I would add that we are also keeping an eye on other young guys who are emerging. Having said that, however, today there are only two drivers driving a Mercedes and they are Valtteri and Lewis." he concluded.
