Formula 1 | Williams, Robson compliments Russell: "he drove very well"

Usual endurance race for the Williams team on the Spielberg track, scene of the last Austrian Formula 1 Grand Prix. Despite starting from the pit lane, due to a broken front wing during qualifying, George Russell managed to climb back up up to eighteenth position, closing his race ahead of Kevin Magnussen's Haas.

A different story however for Robert Kubica, given that the Pole finished three laps from the top and lapped by his teammate. A negative result, characterized by a puncture in the first laps and a race pace not up to expectations.

“At the end of qualifying we found some damage to Russell's front wing, which forced us to replace it,” said Davide Robson. “This, combined with some changes, led us to shoot from the pit lane. Despite this, however, Russell drove very well, running with Haas and Toro Rosso in the first part of the race. Robert, however, managed to complete a good start, recovering several positions"

“Unfortunately a puncture during the first lap didn't allow him to resist,” added the Team Principal. “We hoped that the straight line speed, combined with the temperatures of the other units, would help us move up the ranking, but unfortunately this was not the case, given that Robert had to face a very difficult race”.

On Russell's race he continued: “George drove very well in the first stint, managing to stay close to Kvyat's car. Thanks to the work of the mechanics we almost managed to overtake him during the pit stop phase. Back on track, however, Toro Rosso withdrew the Russian's car, making Russell's race a real defense against Magnussen. The whole team did a good job, despite the difficult conditions in Austria, bringing both cars to the finish line."
