Formula 1 Test | Pirelli, Isola satisfied: "The planned program for the 2020 development tests has been completed"

Two days of positive testing for Pirelli on the Sakhir track. Despite the sudden rain that fell during yesterday's session, in fact, the Italian tire manufacturer managed to collect valuable data during this working window in the Middle East, especially with a view to 2020, completing good mileage with Alonso and Kvyat.

The drivers in question took to the track with various experimental compounds (obviously not known), working mainly on gathering information for the tests that will be carried out in the coming months.

“We managed to complete the planned program for our 2020 development tests with prototype tires, despite the rain not allowing us to do much lapping on the first day,” declared Mario Isola. “Thanks go to all the drivers who participated in our test and in particular to Fernando Alonso, whose experience allowed us to collect a lot of data which we will immediately analyze. This work will continue in the coming months to understand in which direction to continue the development of 13" tires in their last season in F1 before the transition to 18" expected for 2021".

The Pirelli manager continued by talking about the development carried out by the teams during the two days of testing in Sakhir: “In in-season testing the teams continued their programs, using the 2019 compound sets chosen in advance. It's understandable that no team had selected wet tires for the in-season test in Bahrain, but despite this it was a productive two days."
