Formula 1 | Schumacher satisfied with the first day of work at Losail

Satisfying first day for Mick Schumacher on the Losail track, scene of the next Formula 1 Qatar Grand Prix. The German from Haas, after a more complicated first session, managed to improve his feeling with the car and the track during the afternoon , gathering important information in view of tomorrow. However, things are different for Nikita Mazepin, given that the Russian, due to a passage over a curb that was too violent in FP1, was unable to get on track in free practice 2.

“I think it's the fastest circuit we've faced all season,” said the Russian from Haas. “There is no slow corner and this makes the challenge very interesting. The surface is very smooth and looking at it is quite pleasant. Unfortunately during the last runs of FP1 I felt something hit the bottom of the car and the damage didn't allow us to get on track in the afternoon”.

“It was unpleasant because I didn't go beyond the limits of the track, but onto the curb,” he continued. “Unfortunately the angle caused this mishap. From now on I will pay more attention because we will have less time available to understand the car and the circuit. I will start with a cautious approach and then the rest will take care of itself."

Here are Mick Schumacher's assessments: “I haven't tried the track on the simulator so I went out on track this morning without expectations. Overall it was a pretty fun day and I enjoyed the circuit. The track is very fast, although not as we expected. I felt good in the car and I think qualifying will be a real challenge. It will probably be difficult to overtake during the race, but I'm ready to be proven wrong."
