Formula 1 | Sainz on Ferrari: “I'm focused on my commitment to McLaren”

Interviewed by the Spanish press about a possible move in Ferrari at the end of 2020, Carlos Sainz he preferred not to pay particular attention to the rumors that have circulated in recent weeks, underlining how his only commitment at the moment is to do his best for McLaren.

Despite the rumors published by various insiders, the Spaniard intends to continue the growth process with the Woking Scuderia, actively working on the development of the car and the next partnership with Mercedes.

“It's nice when people in the industry recognize your work and appreciate what you do,” said the Spaniard of McLaren. “Several contracts will expire this year and it is a situation that leads to generating various transfer rumors for next season.”

On the contract renewal he added: “When I signed with the McLaren I knew I was facing a great challenge. I knew I had to lead the team and do my best to develop a good car. There were some discussions at the end of last season, but at the moment everything is paralyzed and it will take some time to see any movement."

Finally, conclusion on the rumors of a possible move to Ferrari: “I prefer not to comment on the rumours, as I am totally focused on McLaren.”
